We have held 22 Site Initiation Visits (SIV) with hospices ahead of opening them to recruitment and have a further seven booked in, with one pending booking. This means we have identified all 30 hospices we will recruit for the trial! The Site Initiation Visit is a meeting with the trial team where training is provided in the protocol, Sponsor standard operating procedures and on how to run the trial at their hospice.   

Of these 22 hospices we have conducted these visits with, we are delighted to have 19 open to recruitment with nine of these now randomized to either accessing the RESTORE course (Intervention group) or continuing with the usual supports available to them at their hospice (Control group). Delivery of the RESTORE course began in February 2026 and will continue over the coming months.  

We have baseline questionnaire data from 150 participants with very low levels of missing data. We have therefore recruited over half of the number of participants we expect to recruit to the trial.    

Additionally, we have set up a monthly Microsoft Teams meeting for Research Champions at hospices at each stage of involvement with the RESTORE trial. This is a space to come along and ask any questions related to the trial or share feedback.
